Samuel M. Sherry
Samuel M. Sherry is an attorney whose practice focuses on creditor representation and commercial law.
Sam’s work includes commercial collection, landlord representation, foreclosure and small business practice.
He graduated from the University of Connecticut cum laude in 1984 and received his J.D. cum laude in 1992 from the California Western School of Law as a published member and staff editor of the Law Review. Mr. Sherry is admitted to the bars of Maine, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Mr. Sherry served as law clerk for Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge James B. Haines, Jr. (D. Me.) and also assisted in the chambers of United States Bankruptcy Judge Louise DeCarl Adler (S.D. Cal.). He regularly presents seminars for the bar and public on commercial and collection law. He has tried state and federal lawsuits and appeals and practiced before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Sam was a member of the panel which drafted Maine’s Personal Property Recovery Act of 2009. He is board-certified as a specialist in Creditors Rights Law by the American Board of Certification and was the 2011-2014 Chair of the Maine Bar Association’s Consumer & Financial Institution Law Section. Sam is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Maine Landlords Association.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sherry was active in Connecticut politics. He served as a professional staff person on several Connecticut General Assembly campaigns in the mid-80’s and was on the staff of the General Assembly’s Human Services Committee for the 1987 session.
Sam has been married to the effervescent Kathy since 1987. They are the proud parents of two truly outstanding children. Community activities include service on the Board of Directors of the Southern Maine Landlords Association, two terms on the Board of Directors of the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church and five years’ service as a volunteer musical coach at Cape Elizabeth High School.
